Gaslight! is the 1st single from The Black Veils’ 4th upcoming studio album, eponymously called GASLIGHT. The full-length will be released by French independent label Icy Cold Records in autumn 2025.
Coming four years after the release of their mostly ferocious and political album Carnage, Gaslight! is a synth-driven dancefloor post-punk song with an obsessive chorus that just gets stuck in your head.
Taking inspiration from The Black Veils’ typical cinematographic background, Gaslight! is named after George Cukor’s movie of the same name, quoting Leonard Cohen — “drunk in a midnight choir” — and depicting an ambiguous portrait always open to interpretations. Who’s the gaslighter? Who’s the gaslighted? She is he and he is she. Gender is over. There could be a couple, or maybe the fight rages inside. The Gaslighter knows.
Just in time to celebrate your toxic relationship, even with your own self, Gaslight! is out on Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14th, 2025).
Gaslight! official video — directed and edited by The Black Veils’ and European Ghost’s guitar player Mario d’Anelli with the help of Viktoriya Chuminok, Enrica Fontana, Beatrice Generali and Giulia Moser (Miss Nuit Blanche) — features an exclusive performance by Vita Ninja in an abandoned theatre while The Black Veils are playing in the background. Vita Ninja is a Queerlesque and Voguing performer, 1st Runner-Up at London’s World Burlesque Games, representing sensuality and sexuality worldwide.
